Impact of mycotoxins on Animal health & performance
AB20® (advanced anti-caking agent and pelleting aid)
SPECIALTY PRODUCT FOR POULTRY
AB20 is a specially processed smecite or montmorillonite clay, an aluminosilicate material with a 2:1 layered structure. AB20 is characterized by alternating layers of tetrahedral silicon and octahedral aluminium layers coordinated with oxygen atoms. Trioctahedral piling of these layers creates an interlayer space with excellent adsorptive qualities. The interlayer space of AB20 is accessible to molecules, such as mycotoxins, which can become trapped within this structure. Due to its physical structure, AB20 has a high cation exchange ability. Aluminum ions in the ochtahedral layer may be exchanged for other cations, creating electrial imbalances within the clay structure. Weak binding forces are generated which can further helps to attract and trap mycotoxins in the interlayer spaces between the tetrahedral and octahedral layers..
